The soldier of today is equipped with the best uniform boots. In case of a special formal gathering, the uniform boots are of the shiny leather types, with minimum fuss and usually black. The uppers of these boots are of soft shiny leather with soles made from leather, wood or sometime rubber. For the combat areas the uniform boots utilize special uppers and soles. The uppers of the uniform boots used in combat situations, have toughened leather, which is rendered waterproof by a lining of canvas or resin. There is a special casing on the toe with either steel or reinforced rubber for special protection. The ankles are usually given adequate support by reinforcement at the back of the ankles.
The uniform boots also feature adequate cushioning to reduce the fatigue, the soldiers or other men in uniform undergo, due to prolonged hours of standing or walking. The structure of these uniform boots is such that the posture of the wearer is maintained upright. The soles of the uniform boots are usually thick and resistant to water and chemicals. The soles mostly used vulcanized striated rubber, with deep venation. The rubber soles with the deep venations give stability to the body and ensure better grip on the surface.
