The Process
While untreated leather and mesh will absorb water, each pair of Magnum boots undergoes the proprietary Ion-Mask process that permanently seals the shoe and makes it virtually impervious to moisture penetration. As part of the procedure, each boot is placed in a sealed chamber where the air is removed to create a vacuum. In pre treat, a plasma is generated which activates the surface of the material. A fluorocarbon is then injected into the chamber which penetrates deeply into every fiber of the shoe. Finally, the boot is treated with a thin layer of polymer that effectively seals the entire surface area including any open weave material.

The Ion-Mask method results in quality that is unique to Magnum boots. Since every fiber is polymer enhanced, the boots display exceptional water replant characteristics. Lower absorption of liquid results in drier feet and keeps the weight of the boot from increasing. Ion-Mask technology is superior to the Teflon dip system since it has a much lower surface energy and more complete penetration of deeply embedded fibers.
Magnum precision boots are ISO 16604 compliant and are resistant to oil, fuel and alcohol. They protect the owner from the transfer of pathogenic microorganisms and infective blood components while being x-ray friendly as well.
